Q-Park takes the charge point operator role itself in Germany and Ireland, on GreenFlux

15 October 2026 | News | 2 min read

Q-Park announced on October 15, 2026 that it is moving the charge points in its German and Irish car parks onto the charge point management system of GreenFlux: more than 700 points in Germany and about 120 in Ireland. In both countries Q-Park leaves a CPO-as-a-Service model, in which an outside provider ran the charging, and becomes the charge point operator itself. Q-Park has an operator page on Plugchoice, and so does GreenFlux.

GreenFlux has managed Q-Park's Dutch charge points since 2024, about 1,700 of them according to electrive. In the new setup GreenFlux supplies the backend and Q-Park keeps control of pricing, billing and energy management. Q-Park gave smart charging, links to outside payment and energy management vendors, managed roaming, accurate invoicing and reimbursement, and uptime as its reasons. Neither report names the providers Q-Park is leaving or mentions new hardware. Q-Park's Irish website still names Blink Charging as its charging partner.

What it means

When a parking group changes who runs its charge points, the chargers can stay on the wall and connect to a new backend address over OCPP. On Plugchoice the OCPP proxy turns that kind of switch into a toggle per backend instead of a site visit, and a charger can stay connected to its old backend while the new one is added. How GreenFlux and Plugchoice differ is on our comparison page.
