How Plugchoice started
It grew out of the tooling we built for our own chargers.
- Installers firstFrom 2014 we installed chargers ourselves, and kept running into unreliable hardware, missing software and poor support from manufacturers.
- Volt Time, in 2020Tijn and Berend founded Volt Time in the Netherlands, to bring chargers to market that installers can rely on.
- Volt Time Cloud, in 2023We built Volt Time Cloud to service our own chargers, and it turned out to work for chargers of other brands too.
- Plugchoice, in 2026In January 2026 the platform got its own name, Plugchoice, free to use with chargers that speak OCPP.
