In short
- Does charging count?
- Public charge points only
- Do measured kWh from a home charger count?
- No
- Since when?
- Since 1 July 2025
The scheme
- Name
- Elkrediter (reduktionsplikt)
- In English
- Electricity credits
- Who earns
- Only the operator of a public charging station. Houses, housing cooperatives that require membership and closed workplaces do not count; private ground that is open to the public does.
- Who may bundle
- An agent (ombud) may report and sign transfers for operators with a power of attorney; an aggregator that buys and resells credits is not allowed.
- What has to be measured
- No MID requirement: the kWh invoiced to customers, with an auditor's statement, once a year before 1 April.
- What it is worth
- About 27 to 93 öre per kWh (estimates), with the penalty as the ceiling.
Other rules for charging
- Employer reimbursement of home charging
- Paying the actual electricity cost tax-free is not possible; if the employer pays, the private part is taxed.
What Plugchoice does here
For an operator of public charge points, Plugchoice runs next to the existing back office and exports the sessions per charge point as CSV, Excel or PDF for the operator's own filing.
