GARO phases out its Entity wallbox family
GARO announced on October 1, 2026 that it will phase out sales of GARO Entity, its wallbox family, over a period of six to nine months. The Swedish company said the decision followed a strategic review of its E-mobility business. Entity has a yearly turnover of about SEK 100 million, and GARO expects write-downs of about SEK 150 million on development costs, inventory and related assets. GARO has a charger page on Plugchoice with its Entity models.
GARO says it will keep providing service, spare parts and technical support to existing customers under its existing agreements and warranties, and will tell affected customers directly about long-term service. "The future of GARO is Electrification," said CEO Tobias Byfeldt. Laddboxgaraget, a Swedish charger site, reports that GARO has not said how long the cloud services behind its Entity User app will keep running.
What it means
The installed chargers keep charging after sales stop. What owners have to watch is the app and the cloud service behind it. Laddboxgaraget notes that, according to GARO's product sheet, Entity supports OCPP, so in principle it can be connected to another charging service, and that how easy the switch is depends on the OCPP version and features on both sides. On Plugchoice, smart charging runs in the platform and reaches the charger over OCPP. Whether a given Entity works with a backend depends on its model, firmware and configuration, so check the model before planning a switch.
