In short

Does charging count?
Home and business chargers, through an intermediary
Do measured kWh from a home charger count?
Yes
Since when?
Since 1 January 2026

The scheme

Name
ERE (emissiereductie-eenheden)
In English
Emission reduction units
Who earns
The holder of the grid connection, for home and business chargers. A household always takes part through a credit aggregator (inboekdienstverlener) and at the national grid average.
Who may bundle
A credit aggregator registered as inboekdienstverlener, with at least 2 million kWh or 200 mandates a year.
What has to be measured
A MID meter built into the charger, or an exclusive extra allocation point; a separate MID meter in the meter cabinet does not count. Units are booked on the EAN of the main connection.
What it is worth
0.3327 ERE per kWh charged at home in 2026; about 0.360 is expected for 2027.

Other rules for charging

Employer reimbursement of home charging
An employer may reimburse home charging of a company car tax-free up to the full cost price per kWh; no meter is prescribed for that. ERE income lowers that cost price.

What Plugchoice does here

In the Plugchoice app you choose a credit aggregator and connect it in one step; Plugchoice forwards the metered sessions of a charger with a MID meter to the aggregator you chose.
