Tap Electric publishes its prices in £ and Plugchoice in €. The two totals stand side by side; nothing is converted.

How the estimate works: the free plan is £0 a month for unlimited chargers. Tap Electric adds a service fee to what drivers pay, 10% for pay-as-you-go and less for drivers with a Tap Electric subscription. The estimate takes 10% of what pay-as-you-go drivers pay and shows it on its own line, outside your total. It leaves out Charge AI load balancing, £2 per charger a month. It also leaves out payment terminals at £15 a month each and SIM and data at £15 a year. The Plugchoice side counts one AC socket per charger.

Questions about switching from Tap Electric

Yes. The charger connects to Plugchoice, and Plugchoice passes every message on to Tap Electric. Tap Electric keeps billing your sessions next to Plugchoice until you switch it off.

No. Plugchoice does not bill sessions yet, so it adds nothing. Billing is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026 and will be a flat price per charger, never a percentage of a session. While Tap Electric bills your sessions, its service fee on drivers stays.

Point each charger's OCPP address at ws://ocpp.plugchoice.com and add it in Plugchoice. Then add Tap Electric as its back office, and the charger reports to both. A charger whose maker locks the address cannot move.

Chargers that speak OCPP 1.6J, depending on model, firmware and configuration. Tap Electric names OCPP 1.6J as well.

The platform is free for every charger, location and user. Smart Charging covers load balancing and costs €25 a year per AC socket, €74 for five years or €165 for the life of the charger. A DC socket counts four times. The Partner Program for your own brand is €29 a month per company.
