In short
- Does charging count?
- Home and business chargers, through an intermediary
- Do measured kWh from a home charger count?
- Yes
- Since when?
- Since 1 January 2026
The scheme
- Name
- DAEI apskaitos vienetai
- In English
- Renewable transport energy units
- Who earns
- Owners of home and business chargers, through a telkėjas (aggregator). The units belong to the telkėjas, which pays the owner under a contract. Baltpool counted seven telkėjai and more than 700 private charge points on 4 September 2026.
- Who may bundle
- A telkėjas: a legal entity that bundles private charge points with at least 25 separate grid connections. Each grid user gives Baltpool consent in the ESO self-service.
- What has to be measured
- No MID meter: a CE-marked meter that can be read remotely. The kWh is reported per charge point per month, capped at the ESO measurement of the connection.
- What it is worth
- The owner receives 3.0 to 3.9 cents per kWh, about 60 to 156 euros a year at 2,000 to 4,000 kWh.
Other rules for charging
- Employer reimbursement of home charging
- Tax-free through a contract between employer, employee and supplier, in which the supplier records the kWh and the place per vehicle (not confirmed: we could not open the tax authority's text).
- Other schemes and rules
- The energy agency LEA has subsidised 20,811 private charge points.
What Plugchoice does here
Plugchoice reads the charger next to the existing back office, so a charger can join a telkėjas and keep its maker's app and smart charging; a telkėjas reads the sessions per charge point through one API, with the owner's consent.
