In short
- Does charging count?
- Home and business chargers, through an intermediary
- Do measured kWh from a home charger count?
- Yes
- Since when?
- Since 2021
The scheme
- Name
- Transpordielektri statistika (Elextra)
- In English
- Statistics for electricity used in transport
- Who earns
- The electricity supplier of the metering point through which an electric car charges; the charge point does not have to be public. A household does not register itself, and at least one supplier already books its customers' home chargers.
- Who may bundle
- The Elextra form has a field for a data aggregator, and chargers can be pooled through a virtual metering point; whether Elextra accepts a mandate from a household is open.
- What has to be measured
- Hourly values through Estfeed Datahub, by the 5th of the following month. No MID requirement was found, and there is no flat rate.
- What it is worth
- Traded at 188.37 euros per MWh in the second quarter of 2026. For a home charger with 2,500 kWh about 48 to 183 euros gross a year, if a household may take part (our own calculation).
Other rules for charging
- Employer reimbursement of home charging
- In practice a sub-meter, a smart charger or a separately listed bill (not confirmed).
What Plugchoice does here
Plugchoice records every session per charger with start, stop and kWh, and exports it as CSV, Excel or PDF, next to the back office you already use.
