The scheme

Name
eQuote (ePrämie)
In English
Austrian e-quota for EV charging
Who earns
Car owners and businesses, always through an Antragsberechtigter (an authorised applicant; 53 on the list of October 2026). Semi-public charge points at hotels, employers and garages count only when metered.
Who may bundle
An Antragsberechtigter files for its customers, with a contract per year; individuals cannot file themselves. Applicants register by 31 January and file between 1 January and 1 March.
What has to be measured
When the charge point has a MID or ME meter and records sessions automatically and tamper-proof, the kWh must be filed as measured; there is no choice. Otherwise a flat 1,500 kWh per car per year applies. A separate meter in the meter cabinet, spreadsheets and mobile chargers count only for the flat rate.
What it is worth
About 80 to 200 euros per car per year paid out. Measured instead of the flat rate gives about 45 to 110 euros more at 2,500 kWh a year and 135 to 250 euros more at 4,000 kWh (our own calculation).

Other rules for charging

Employer reimbursement of home charging
Since 2026 an employer reimburses home charging only as kWh times 32.806 cents, per charging session and assigned to the car; records from the car and the maker's charging history count. The adopted text has no calibration requirement.

What Plugchoice does here

Plugchoice records every session per charger with kWh and exports the year as CSV, Excel or PDF, and an Antragsberechtigter can read the sessions through the API with the owner's consent. Whether an Antragsberechtigter accepts the export is up to them.
