Plugchoice vs Wattify: common questions
Is Plugchoice a real alternative to Wattify?
For charge point management, yes. Both run, configure, smarten and bill OCPP chargers under an installer's own brand. Plugchoice is free per charger and includes the API in the free tier; Wattify charges per charging station and puts API access on its top plan. Wattify goes further than we do on Belgian fiscal detail.
Does Wattify have a free plan?
Yes, at station level. Their Occasional Public plan is EUR 0 per charging station per month, but public sessions still carry a per-kWh markup on the CREG price and a start fee charged to the driver, and support on that plan is email only, five days a week. The Plugchoice platform is free on unlimited chargers with no markup on sessions.
How much does Wattify cost?
Their published list runs per charging station per month, excluding 21% VAT: Occasional Public at EUR 0, Low Public and Split-billing at EUR 5, Public at EUR 10, and a Payter payment terminal integration at EUR 13.50 per terminal plus EUR 0.12 per transaction and 2% of the amount collected. Prices are per station rather than per plug.
Which OCPP version does Wattify support?
They do not publish one. No OCPP version number and no certification claim appears anywhere on their site. They do publish a WebSocket endpoint for connecting a charger, and document that they prefer WSS on port 443 over plain WS on port 80. Plugchoice runs OCPP 1.6 and newer on any brand, and adds a proxy so one charger can reach two backends at once.
Does Wattify do roaming?
Yes. They name Gireve and e-clearing.net as roaming hubs and describe themselves as a CPO that connects to as many eMSPs as possible and invoices them monthly. No OCPI version number is published, and Hubject is not mentioned anywhere on their site.
Does Wattify support solar charging or V2G?
Neither is published. Solar or PV surplus charging is not mentioned anywhere on their site. V2G appears only inside their own explainer on ISO 15118, where they hedge it explicitly, and Plug and Charge is described as depending on the charger hardware rather than on their platform.
Can I switch from Wattify to Plugchoice?
Yes. The OCPP proxy lets Plugchoice run alongside Wattify, so you reroute chargers when you are ready. Any brand, no lock-in, no reinstall.
