Plugchoice vs Optimile: common questions

Is Plugchoice a real alternative to Optimile?

For charge point management, yes. Plugchoice runs, configures, smartens and bills any OCPP charger, free per charger and self-serve. Optimile is a modular platform aimed at service providers and operators who also need roaming and branded environments.

Who owns Optimile?

DKV Mobility. It acquired Optimile in full from BNP Paribas Fortis and AG Insurance, effective 30 April 2026 and announced in early May. DKV Mobility also owns GreenFlux, which it acquired in 2021.

Does Optimile have a free plan?

No public free plan or price list was found. Access starts with a demo. The Plugchoice platform is free, on unlimited chargers, with no credit card.

Is Plugchoice really free?

The platform is free: charger management, monitoring, logging, cards and transactions all cost EUR 0, and dynamic load balancing is included. Optional modules like Smart Charging and Billing are paid, and those prices are public.

Can I switch from Optimile to Plugchoice?

Yes. The OCPP proxy lets Plugchoice run alongside Optimile, so you reroute chargers when you are ready. Any brand, no lock-in, no reinstall.

Why does the ownership matter?

Because it decides the roadmap. A platform that changes hands can change its pricing, its focus or its place inside a bigger group, and your chargers are the part that is hard to move. The OCPP proxy is our answer to that: whoever owns whom, you can reroute in one click.

Same chargers, smarter software
