The free OCPP platform

An OCPP platform is the backoffice your chargers talk to: it registers them, watches them, starts sessions and records every kWh. Plugchoice is one you do not pay for. Connect any OCPP 1.6+ charger and the whole platform comes on.

What an OCPP platform does the server side of the socket

OCPP, the Open Charge Point Protocol, is the open language between a charger and the system that manages it. The platform side is often called a CSMS. Watch a charger check in on the right: this is the whole trick.

Speaks OCPP

OCPP 1.6J is the workhorse of the market: an open, vendor-neutral protocol. Any charger that speaks it can connect to any platform that listens.

Runs the fleet

The platform registers chargers, tracks status, starts and stops sessions, records transactions and meter values, and pushes configuration and firmware.

Brand-neutral by design

Because the protocol is open, one platform can run chargers from any maker. Lock-in is a business choice, not a technical one.

What it should cost why free beats per-charger fees

Most OCPP platforms charge per connected charger per month, so the bill grows with every install. We think the platform layer should be free, and here is what that means in practice.

  1. 1

    No per-charger fee

The core platform is €0 at any fleet size. Ten chargers or a thousand, the platform bill stays zero.

  2. 2

    The tools are the platform

Monitoring, diagnostics, remote configuration, transactions, the web portal and the driver app are included, not paid extras.

  3. 3

    Add-ons are labelled

The few paid pieces, like Smart Charging, are explicit add-ons with their own price on the pricing page. Nothing else creeps in.

  4. 4

    Free to leave

Chargers are never locked to us. Through the OCPP Proxy another backend can run in parallel, or take over entirely, without touching the charger.

Plugchoice as your OCPP platform connect once, everything comes on

Point the charger's OCPP URL at Plugchoice and it shows up in the portal and the app. From there, everything below is switched on.

Any OCPP 1.6+ charger

Every brand normalizes into the same clean model: same status, same diagnostics, same controls.

A portal, an app and an API

Installers work in the web portal, drivers use the app, developers build on the REST API. One platform behind all three.

Your backend, kept

The OCPP Proxy routes 1.6J and 2.0.1 traffic to any other backoffice in parallel, so choosing Plugchoice never means leaving anything.

Yours to brand

White-label the portal, app and communications with your own logo, colors and domain.
