What ERE-DC is and why it runs well on Plugchoice
ERE-DC is the ERE booking service of Duurzame Cijfers, a licensed booking service provider (inboekdienstverlener) for the Dutch ERE scheme. ERE stands for emissiereductie-eenheid, an Emission Reduction Unit: one unit equals one kilogram of CO2-equivalent emissions saved. Charging an electric car on a station with a MID-certified meter produces these units, and fuel suppliers are obliged to buy them to meet their fuel transition targets, so they carry real value. ERE-DC registers them with the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa) and pays the proceeds back to the charger owner. It only withholds a commission — there are no other additional costs — and it trades freely, not tied to a single fossil-fuel buyer, so it can sell where the value is best for you.

What is ERE?

Yes. ERE-DC makes separate commission arrangements for customers booking in more than 180,000 kWh per year. Get in touch with them about a volume rate.
Who buys the certificates?
ERE-DC trades freely and is not tied to any single fossil-fuel buyer, so it can sell the certificates wherever the value is best for you.
When am I paid?
The payout for 2026 takes place in 2027. After that, ERE-DC pays out half-yearly, keeping only its commission.
How long is the contract?
You choose the term yourself: a contract of 1, 3 or 5 years.
Do I need a special meter?
Yes. Only kWh measured by a MID-certified meter count for ERE. Most modern chargers have one. Plugchoice flags which chargers in your fleet are eligible.
Can I keep my existing backoffice and switch providers later?
Yes. The OCPP Proxy keeps your charger connected to your current backoffice while Plugchoice supplies the ERE data to ERE-DC in parallel. Because Plugchoice stays connected and keeps supplying verified data, you can change or add a booking provider whenever you want.
