Questions about switching from Ocean EV
Yes. The charger connects to Plugchoice, and Plugchoice passes every message on to Ocean EV. Ocean EV keeps its role on the charger until you switch it off.
In February 2025 Landis+Gyr announced it would exit the EV charging business in EMEA. It sold the former Etrel business to KD Group, and Ocean was carved out as a separate company. Customer relationships and data responsibilities moved to Ocean. When we checked on 8 June 2026, Ocean presented itself as an active OCPP platform.
Each charger gets one new OCPP address, ws://ocpp.plugchoice.com, and Ocean EV stays connected behind it. After that, changing back office is a toggle in the portal or the app, without a site visit. If a back office goes offline, Plugchoice holds its messages and passes them on when it is back. This works for chargers that speak OCPP 1.6J, depending on model, firmware and configuration.
No platform price is stated on oceanevcharging.com. The Plugchoice platform is €0 for every charger, location and user, and every price is public. Smart Charging is €29 a year per AC socket, and a DC socket counts three times.
Not yet. Billing and roaming are planned for the fourth quarter of 2026, in the countries our payment partner covers. Billing will be a flat price per charger, never a percentage of a session. Until then, a back office that bills can stay connected next to Plugchoice.
