Tibber launched Grid Rewards in Germany on September 11, 2026, letting EV drivers earn money from short-notice intraday electricity trading of their own charging flexibility, on top of the day-ahead Smart Charging Tibber already runs. Grid Rewards adds up to EUR 150 a year, on top of up to EUR 290 from Smart Charging alone (EUR 440 combined), rising to as much as EUR 630 once Tibber's own paragraph 14a EnWG Module 1 grid-fee reduction is added in. It needs a smart meter, a fully dynamic tariff and an existing Smart Charging subscription, at no extra cost.
The catch is hardware. Tibber's own compatibility page names the qualifying wallboxes one model at a time: Charge Amps Dawn, Halo and Luna, Easee Charge Up and Charge Max, Garo Entity, KEBA P30 X-series and P40, go-e Gemini and Gemini Flex, Tesla Wall Connector, Wallbox ABL Pulsar, and Zaptec Go and Go 2, plus direct vehicle integrations for Audi, BMW, Cupra, Ford, Skoda, Tesla and VW that skip the wallbox entirely. A driver whose charger is not on that list earns none of it.
Plugchoice's smart charging runs the same day-ahead and short-notice scheduling as a cloud layer over any OCPP-compatible charger, so which brand happens to be on the wall does not decide whether a driver can take part in a scheme like this.
