Hyundai Motor Group has launched AllDayEnergy, a global brand for the group's vehicle-to-everything services, bundling V1G smart charging, vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) under one name for Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles. The group says it has already deployed pieces of this in several markets: V1G and V2G smart charging tied to dynamic electricity prices in the Netherlands, and V2H household backup power in the US during events such as wildfires. The UK is the first market to get the branded rollout, delivered through the Kia app, with sources disagreeing on timing (Hyundai's own newsroom says "later this year" while other coverage cites the second quarter or second half of 2026).
The services run through the vehicle's own app, not through a home energy controller or the charge point. That is the practical question for anyone charging a mixed fleet or a shared driveway: a car-API service like AllDayEnergy only works for that make of car, and stops working the moment the driver switches to something else. Smart charging control at the charge point itself, over OCPP, works the same way regardless of which car plugs in. A charging back office that can throttle, schedule or reward a session based on grid signals gives a site owner that control without betting on one car brand's app staying supported, or on every driver owning the right vehicle.
