Consumer Terms

Účinné od 30. novembra 2026 | Aktualizované 30. októbra 2026

Version 2026-2, published 2026-10-30. It applies to accounts created from 2026-10-30 and to existing accounts from 2026-11-30.

These terms apply when you use the Plugchoice platform, app or portal as a consumer, a natural person acting outside their trade, business, craft or profession. "We" means Volt Time B.V. (KvK 77488873), also trading as Plugchoice, De Entree 99, 1101 HE Amsterdam, the Netherlands, support@plugchoice.com.

1. What these terms are

1.1. Our General Terms, including their Schedules, apply to you. These terms add to them and win if they conflict, also over the API and Developer Terms. General Terms clauses 6.2, 7.3, 8.7, 9.2, 12.2 to 12.5, 12.8 and 18.6 do not apply to you; clauses 5.2, 6.2, 8.1, 8.3, 10 and 12.2 of these terms replace them.

1.2. No exclusion or limit of our liability towards you covers product liability, or death or personal injury caused by the fault, or damage caused by the intent or gross negligence, of us, our representatives or anyone we engage.

1.3. If you use Plugchoice through the app, portal or server address of an installer or other business, you still contract with us; that business answers for its own services.

1.4. [Intentionally left blank]

1.5. When you use Link, our setup flow in other companies' apps and websites, these terms apply unless that company keeps the charger in its own account. Continuing in Link instructs us to connect each charger you confirm, with the access the flow asks for (7.4).

1.6. [Intentionally left blank]

1.7. These terms also cover services, devices, integrations and countries we add later (General Terms 2.8).

2. Your account

2.1. You must be at least 16 to create an account.

2.2. [Intentionally left blank]

2.3. [Intentionally left blank]

2.4. We may email you offers of our own products and services, under any of our brands, and ask for your feedback or a review after a purchase or a support conversation, also through a review platform. You can refuse both when you create your account, where the app offers this, and in every email.

2.5. Who has access to your charger. You decide who has access to your chargers, at the levels Basic, Sensitive and Full that General Terms 5.6 describes. Basic is for service only and also contains personal data. Someone who joins with your charger's access code, or whom someone other than you invites, gets Basic access unless you give more. When a charger becomes yours, other than by a claim (11.4), every party with access keeps its access, at most Sensitive, to manage and service it until you switch this off; when you accept, you see a box per party with Sensitive access, ticked in advance, with an explanation, and if you untick it, it keeps Basic access. A charger brand that works with us can have Sensitive access by default; we rely on what the charger reports. We have access as far as needed for our service, security and the law; the platform shows this as a box you cannot switch off. Anyone with access to your personal data may use it only for your charger or as you agreed with them, never for their own marketing without your consent. You can see who has access, and end any access in the platform at any time, except our own access behind the box you cannot switch off, or object to it.

2.6. [Intentionally left blank]

3. The free platform

3.1. The core platform is free for now. We decide what belongs to it and may change it, charge for it or end it (3.4).

3.2. We may change or close a support channel (General Terms 11.1), except the address in 12.2. If you use Plugchoice through an installer or other business (1.3), it is your first point of contact for support; we may refer you to it.

3.3. While your charger connects to us, also after you stop using the app or delete your account, we may keep its connection (General Terms 3.10) and process its data under our Privacy Policy, until you disconnect it (3.5).

3.4. We may end the free platform with at least 30 days' notice (12.2). With the same notice and for reasons of costs, changes in our services or technology, security or the law, we may also change it, end a function, stop keeping a charger connected, or attach a fee or a condition, such as seeing offers or advertising or using an extra service, never your consent to tailored offers or tracking. If you do not accept a fee or condition, we may stop accepting your charger's connection, for a charger with a paid module only when that module ends (9.1). A change that keeps the platform secure or working, or that affects your use no more than slightly, needs no notice under this clause or 12.2. For a charger sold under our own brand, such as Volt Time, this applies only as far as our Terms of Sale for it allow (General Terms 3.15).

3.5. You decide whether your charger stays connected to us, and you disconnect it or connect it elsewhere yourself. On a switch you get the information and help in General Terms 15.5. A change of your charger's server address through the platform may run through us for security (General Terms 8.11); we never refuse or delay your switch for longer than security requires.

3.6. For a charger that reaches us through another company's system or a proxy, also your own, we do not guarantee that Plugchoice works, give no support for that connection and are not liable for problems that system or that connection causes. Paid modules need a direct connection. We may refuse or limit such a connection, and end an existing one with at least 30 days' notice or at once where 12.2 allows, if it affects the security, performance or costs of the platform. This does not limit 8.3.

3.7. Without Plugchoice. If your charger's connection, a module or a subscription ends or is suspended, your charger may stop charging, refuse charge cards, or charge without our limits, such as load balancing; we are not liable for that, unless we ended or suspended it in breach of these terms. With your installer, give your installation a safe fallback, such as a fixed current limit.

3.8. [Intentionally left blank]

3.9. Other free offers. Referral, trial and other offers we give free of charge give no right to continue. We may add conditions to them, change them or end them with at least 14 days' notice (12.2).

4. Paid modules

4.1. You can buy the optional modules the app or portal offers for your charger, such as Smart Charging, in the forms and at the prices it shows when you buy, under our price rules. Our prices at plugchoice.com/pricing are general and do not oblige us to offer every form, such as a yearly subscription, for every charger. What a module includes is the list of functions the app or purchase page shows when you buy it, within the limits of clause 5; descriptions of savings, results or examples are not part of it. Smart Charging works for a location only while every charger on it has a license. How long a module runs follows from these terms, and help articles may change. If you buy through the App Store or Google Play, Apple's or Google's payment and refund rules apply, and we refund nothing they collected. Your installer or another business that sells you a module may receive a commission from us.

4.2. A module, one-off license or subscription belongs to the charger it was activated for, also when it came with the charger or your installer registered it first. It moves with the charger to a new owner, who can continue the subscription; you are then no longer charged. A license moves to another charger only after a warranty replacement or with our consent (General Terms Schedule A.2). If we moved the charger under 11.4 while you still owned it or lived there, we refund on request your prepaid subscription after the transfer. If a subscription payment fails, we give you at least 14 days to pay; otherwise the subscription ends.

4.3. A subscription with a fixed first period then continues for an indefinite time. You can cancel at the end of the first period and after that at any time with 1 month's notice, by email to support@plugchoice.com or where the app or portal offers this.

4.4. Withdrawal. A module is a digital service. You may withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days of the day the contract is made, without giving any reason. To withdraw, inform us (Volt Time B.V., De Entree 99, 1101 HE Amsterdam, the Netherlands, support@plugchoice.com) of your decision by a clear statement, such as an email, before the period ends; you may use the model form at the end of these terms, but it is not obligatory. We then refund all payments received from you without undue delay and within 14 days of receiving your statement, with the same means of payment unless you expressly agreed otherwise, without any fee for you. If you asked us to start the module or another service during the withdrawal period, you pay an amount in proportion to what we provided until you told us you withdraw: for a subscription, the part of the period that passed; for a one-off license, 1/1,825 of its price per active day. For a one-off service, the right lapses once we complete it if you expressly asked us to start at once and acknowledged this.

4.5. A code, coupon or key for a module, license, product, discount or credit is valid for 1 year after we issue it, or until an earlier date stated with it, but a paid one for 2 years after we issue it. Unless stated with it, it can be used once and not with another code.

5. Smart charging and power management

5.1. [Intentionally left blank]

5.2. Make sure a professional installed a suitable installation and fuses, and that the values in the platform, such as the capacity of your grid connection or main fuse, are correct; whoever enters a value is responsible for it. Choose modes that suit your vehicle. Our functions limit charging power and never replace a fuse or circuit breaker: your installation must be safe at the full power of your chargers without them.

5.3. We are not liable for damage caused by wrong or incomplete information or limits, faulty installation or configuration, misbehaving hardware, or steering by equipment or companies we do not manage, such as a home battery, the charger maker's app, your car or your energy supplier.

5.4. We plan charging on prices and data from others on a best-effort basis and do not guarantee charging at the cheapest time.

5.5. [Intentionally left blank]

5.6. Meters from other companies. Functions that use meter readings need a meter we support, and work only on the conditions of its Meter Vendor (as our Definitions define it), such as an account, its terms or a link in its app (General Terms 6.8).

6. Charging data, platform information and offers

6.1. [Intentionally left blank]

6.2. Platform information other than session data and meter values, such as supported features or whether a meter is MID-certified, can be wrong. Where money depends on it, such as energy credits that require a certified meter, check the charger's own documentation and markings; we are not liable for relying on it.

6.3. We use technical data from your charger and the platform, such as status, settings, faults and load data, to run, secure and improve the platform and develop new services. We may use anonymized data, from which no one can reasonably identify a person, for any purpose, also after you leave, including training AI models and, combined from many users, paid data products for others, who may not identify anyone or pass it on. Which data your charger and the platform generate, and how to get or share it: plugchoice.com/legal/data-act.

6.4. Offers. We show offers of our own and of other companies in the app. Offers are not part of our service to you. How we choose them, and your choices, are in our Privacy Policy; other companies get your personal data only if you request their offer or allow it.

7. Connecting other services (operators, energy credits, meters, integrations)

7.1. You can connect your charger to other companies' services, such as a charging operator or an energy credit company, and end the connection in the platform at any time.

7.2. [Intentionally left blank]

7.3. Energy credits (General Terms Schedule E): we pass your charger's data only to the company you choose, also by setting up your charger in its app. What you agree with that company is between you and it, and amounts shown are estimates. We may receive a fee from that company; General Terms 3.9 governs the order in which we list companies.

7.4. Switching on or linking another company's service, in the platform, in its app or through Link, instructs us to exchange with it the data and access the flow shows (General Terms 10.2). That company may steer your charging only within a programme you chose in its own app. Ending the connection stops only that exchange.

7.5. [Intentionally left blank]

7.6. We may stop forwarding your charger's OCPP traffic to a company that receives it through a proxy or gateway without a signed agreement with us, after at least 30 days' notice to you (General Terms 8.8).

8. Firmware and security

8.1. Charger firmware comes from its maker; we only pass it on. Installing it at your request, also through automatic updates, is at your own risk as far as the firmware goes. For a charger sold under our own brand, such as Volt Time, its warranty and the law govern its firmware instead.

8.2. Security and certificates. We may refuse or end your charger's connection if the charger or its connection is not secure, if the law requires it or to protect the platform and its users, until the reason is gone (General Terms 8.9; 12.2). Your charger's own certificates, and keeping it able to accept ours, are for you and its maker. We announce in advance (12.2) a change of our root certificate that would cut off connected chargers, unless security prevents this; if it makes a paid module unusable, 9.1 applies.

8.3. Connection and settings. We may at any time change your charger's server address and its connection to us (websocket) to another address of our platform. We may also change its certificates, security and other settings and install its maker's firmware, also remotely, for a valid reason that requires it: security, a fault, the law, rising costs, a change in our services or technology, or a partner or other company through which your charger connects to us ending, becoming insolvent or ending its agreement with us; if you switched off automatic updates, firmware only for security, a fault or the law. A change that affects your use more than slightly needs such a reason; we then tell you in advance, or afterwards where security, a fault or the law requires acting at once, and 9.1 applies to a paid module. We tell you afterwards of another change that affects your use. Each of these rights is a separate term, and none limits your right to connect your charger elsewhere (3.5). If your charger goes offline or becomes unusable as a result, also through firmware, clause 10 governs our liability, not 8.1, and for a charger sold under our own brand also its warranty and the law.

8.4. Traffic. We may limit or block data traffic with unusual patterns, such as through a VPN, to protect security or limit costs (General Terms 4.5). If this makes a paid module unusable for more than a short time, 9.1 applies.

9. Changes

9.1. We change a paid module you use only for a valid reason (9.2), such as rising costs, a change at a company it depends on (5.6), or the end of our support for your charger's model, firmware or protocol when its maker no longer supports it or too few chargers use it (General Terms 7.5). Keeping the module secure or working is not a change. A change costs you nothing extra. If it reduces your use of the module more than slightly, we email you at least 30 days ahead, or as soon as we can if a company we depend on gives us less time, and you may end the module free of charge within 30 days after our notice or the change, whichever is later. We discontinue a paid module or the platform only for such a reason and with at least 30 days' notice, refunding prepaid periodic fees for the time after the end. A one-off license runs as long as its charger uses the platform and its module exists; if it ends under this clause, we refund the price paid to us less one sixtieth per full month since purchase, so nothing after 5 years, to whoever paid it. Support for a Meter Vendor is not a module (General Terms 14.6).

9.2. Prices and these terms. We may index prices yearly from 1 January by the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI, all households) of Statistics Netherlands (CBS) for October of the previous year, as our price rules calculate; a fall lowers them in the same way. We raise other prices only in proportion to rising costs, such as hosting, connectivity, staff, payments or a company we depend on, or a change in law or taxes, and lower them in proportion when those costs fall. We change these terms only for a valid reason: the law or a ruling, security, new or changed functions, changes in our services or technology, or a change at a company we depend on. We announce a change of these terms or a price to your disadvantage at least 30 days ahead (12.2); you may cancel free of charge before it takes effect, and otherwise it applies to you from then. Other changes apply from the date we state. A price change never applies to a period you paid or a fixed first period, and a one-off license is never charged again.

10. If something goes wrong

10.1. If a paid module does not work as promised, tell us. We fix it, and if we cannot within a reasonable time, you get your money back for the affected charger and period. For a consumer in France, the French version of these terms includes the information in the annex to article D.211-3 of the French Consumer Code; the legal guarantee it describes applies by law.

10.2. We are not liable for indirect damage, such as lost income (also from energy credits or flexibility) or costs of not being able to charge, except, for a breach of an obligation essential to these terms, damage that was typical and foreseeable when you accepted them. Our liability for damage to your home or electrical installation caused by our fault is limited to the higher of EUR 2,500 per event and what our liability insurer pays plus our deductible, and our other liability to EUR 2,500 per event (1.2).

10.3. Force majeure (General Terms 13) frees us only from paying damages.

11. Ending

11.1. You can stop using the platform and delete your account at any time; paid periods already started are not refunded unless clause 9 or 10 says otherwise. If you sell or hand over your charger or move house, remove it from your account or transfer it to the new owner; until then, its sessions may show in your account, and the new owner or occupant can claim it (11.4). We may label and separate sessions by owner and location.

11.2. Deleting your account or the app does not disconnect your charger (3.3), and we no longer send you notices about it. First remove the charger from your account.

11.3. We may suspend or end your access or your charger's connection if you seriously misuse the platform, break these terms or endanger security, after giving you a reasonable time to put things right, except where 12.2 allows immediate action. If you do not pay an amount due, we may suspend what we provide until you pay, after a reminder giving you at least 14 days.

11.4. Someone who shows us, by a document such as a deed or rental agreement or by a charging session the app asks for, that they own your charger or rent or live where it is installed can have it moved to their account (General Terms 5.5); if you live at the same address, living there or a session is not enough. We first tell you (12.2), remind you without naming who asked and wait at least 7 days, unless the charger has not connected for at least 30 days. If you agree or do not answer within those 7 days, we may move it. If you refuse, or we hold the request for a check, our support team decides on the evidence. Charging data are split at the date ownership or occupancy passed or else the date of the request: you keep your earlier data where the platform offers this; until the platform separates them, the new owner or occupant can also see your earlier sessions; and we stop sharing the charger's later data with your energy credit company (General Terms Schedule E.5). Where a court order or similar measure protects someone against you or another person with access, we may end or limit that access at once without saying why (General Terms 5.5(f)).

11.5. [Intentionally left blank]

12. Practical

12.1. [Intentionally left blank]

12.2. Contact and notices. Contact us at support@plugchoice.com, also for notices, complaints and questions about your data. We notify you by email or in the app, and of a change to your disadvantage by email or, if we have no working email address for you, in the app, with the reason and, for a change, its date. We limit, suspend or end a service or connection without prior notice only where security, the law, a grid operator or authority acting under the law or your grid connection agreement, fraud or misuse requires it, or 11.4, General Terms 3.6 or Schedule F provides for it, and then tell you why as soon as we can, except for a protection measure under 11.4 or where the law prevents this.

12.3. We may transfer our agreement with you, with all or part of our business, to a company in our group or to its buyer (General Terms 18.1). It continues on the same terms, and you may then terminate it.

12.4. AI. Our chat and other help can be given by AI, which says so. Its answers are information; what you are entitled to follows from these terms and the law.

12.5. Obvious errors. We may correct an obvious error, such as a price you should have understood was wrong, or an invoice that does not match the agreed price, and then charge or refund the difference.

12.6. Law and court. Dutch law applies to these terms and to our agreement with you. This choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live. You may bring a dispute before the court of the place where you live, and we can bring one against you only there. If you live in Finland, you may also take a dispute free of charge to the Consumer Disputes Board (Kuluttajariitalautakunta, kuluttajariita.fi).
