Monta, the Copenhagen-based EV charging software platform, has raised roughly EUR 30M in additional financing, earmarked for North American expansion and grid-balancing capabilities. It is a follow-on round rather than a first raise, aimed squarely at scaling the platform beyond Europe.
Monta is the CSMS most directly comparable to what runs behind Plugchoice, and the money is going into the grid and energy-management side, an area where it already positions itself heavily. That makes this a competitive signal to track rather than a distress event: a well-funded operator platform pushing into flexibility and new markets. For anyone running chargers across mixed backends, the takeaway is the usual one: keep the charger reachable over OCPP so a platform's roadmap, wherever it heads next, stays a choice rather than a lock-in.
