Enphase Energy said on September 3, 2026 that its IQ EV Charger 2 can now read more kinds of home meter to run smart charging. The charger already worked with Linky over TIC in France; the release adds P1/DSMR metering in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, HAN connections in Norway, and CT-based metering in Germany and the UK, where Enphase does not name a specific interface.
The wording is narrower than it first looks. Enphase is not saying the charger no longer needs an Enphase solar or battery system, it is saying the added meter paths make a standalone install, one with no other Enphase hardware on site, easier for an installer to offer, extending a route the France release already opened in July 2025. "The P1 connection is already sitting in many Dutch homes, and now we can use it," said Dennis Dijkman of installer Dijkman Zonne-energie, one of the installers Enphase quoted. In the UK, Simon Webb of Wow Energy said the new metering paths make a standalone IQ EV Charger 2 "easier to install."
Reading a P1 or HAN port to keep a home under its mains fuse is not a property of one charger brand, it is a property of whatever software is steering the charger.
