Chargecloud, a Cologne-based charge point management (CSMS) vendor, announced on July 22, 2026 that it has acquired parts of insolvent data provider elvah's product line: the elvah Hub, a market-analysis and price-optimization platform, and the elvah Charging Market Report. No employees transferred, and financial terms were not disclosed. The elvah database covers real-time information on roughly 1.2 million charging points across Europe.
Elvah, a subsidiary of E.ON since 2023 via E.ON One, filed for insolvency for the second time in its corporate history in March 2026, after the cancellation of a major customer contract wiped out a large share of its revenue. Dr. Gregor Bräuer, the Düsseldorf-based provisional insolvency administrator, oversaw the sale of the product line. For chargecloud, founded in 2016 and now around 230 employees, it is the company's first product acquisition.
A charging-software vendor going under does not have to mean losing the tooling a site depends on, but it usually means a forced migration. Plugchoice's free OCPP proxy and CSMS keep any charger portable across backends, so a vendor's collapse strands the software, not the hardware underneath it.
